Van Dijk was born on this day-8 July 1991.The Netherlands and Liverpool defender turns 29 today.
Started his footballing career with Groningen,went on to play for Celtic,Southampton and currently Liverpool.
He signed for Liverpool for £75million-a world record fee for a defender at that time.Van Dijk has since his signing with Liverpool in 2018 has helped the Reds reach back to back Champions League in 2018 and 2019 and winning the latter.
Van Dijk played a huge role in Liverpool's Premier League triumph this season after the team's 30 year league barrenness.
Van Dijk was named UEFA's Men's player of the year-the only defender to have achieved that fate so far,and finished runner for the Ballon d'Or and Best FIFA Men's player
